Jordy Smith is a natural freak of a talent and one of the most technically advanced surfers on the planet. His rise to the top of the surfing world has been well earned and hard fought. He crushed the 2007 WQS Tour and finished off the year an amazing 1400 points ahead of closest competitor Dane Reynolds and won the ASP WQS title.

He won the ASP World ProJunior title for 2007. He was awarded the prestigious ASP Triple Crown RookieOf The Year for 2006. Remarkably he won four WQS Titles in 2007. Jordy Smith's accomplishments thus far have eclipsed that of Kelly Slater's in comparison of same age.

He finished the 2008 WCT in26th without competing in the Pipeline Masters due to a knee injury.Couple that with making some small rookie errors, which he never really fully got to showcase his talent, it easily understood that he is ready for a breakout year. Yet despite his ranking he has posted some of the highest single wave scores of the World Tour.
