Kitzbühel - Successful final of the sick trick tour – Kitzbühel Snowpark Austrias biggest independent snowboard and freeski tour presented by Rass and Dorner Specialevents started with new tour stops and with many new highlights. The “Gamble” was the final event of the very triumphant tour. Over 80 snowboarders and freeskiers qualified for the Gamble by doing well enough in the previous four events. Due to the bad weather not the whole set up of the Snowpark could be used. Therefore one session took place at the Rail Set Up and the other at big Kicker. Just like at the previous tour stops the performances of the athletes were only on the highest level, which satisfied the numerous spectators. That show was their money worth. The strong performances of the locals were a pleasure to the eye once more.
The winner of the freeski rookies was local hero Lukas Überall followed by Mario Möschl. Luca Exenberger from Oberndorfer fought to come in third. First place was battled also at the snowboard rookies. Finally Samuel Kahn came in first followed by Josef Osterhammer and Fabio Prohaska. The snowboard ladies showed performances of the highest standards! With their tricks that did not rank behind the men’s tricks and were just as hard, they thrilled not only the crowd but also the judges. The best trick girl that weekend was Maria Teifl. She won followed by Sarah Hpilips from St. Johann and Sophie Gogl. The freeski overall pro winner was Rene Schwabl followed by the young Markus Obwaller from Fieberbrunner and Flo Schneider from Reith im Winkel.
The snowboard pros fought duels to the highest levels. First in came Florian Handschuh who already won the Sick Trick tour in 2007. Second in came Swede Alex Österström and the young Philipp Monitzer from Kitzbühel.
The organizers want to thank all participants and sponsors of the Sick Trick Tour 2009 as well as Rass and Dorner Special Events, Rockstar, Zimtstern and Alpenhaus Kitzbühel. We look forward to a new run in the Olympic year 2010.
