Do you know what a skurfer is?? The first wakeboard! Like many other sports, wakeboarding is derived from a combination of other sports. Inspired by surfing and waterskiing, wakeboarding was born in the mid 1980's, by a guy who believed more fun could be had with a smaller mix of the waterski and surfboard and creatively called it skurfer. Within a year he had added foot straps to his invention, and the sport of wakeboarding with its huge air tricks and dedicated fan base was born.
