Bikes were first used practically - as a means for transporting goods. The real fun started around the 1970's. Enter Mountain-biking and BMX. Mountain-biking began as 'cyclo-cross' where a bike was used to ride down an off-road hill. Today it is a sport and leisure activity enjoyed by millions of people around the world. BMX didn't come into the spotlight until a little later when, inspired by their motorcross heroes, a bunch of kids decided to mimic what they were seeing using self crafted BMX bikes. As the phenomenon and the industry picked up momentum, bikes became smaller, stronger and cooler - the sport that we now know was born.
